I have been serving on the board of directors for Nashville’s leading experimental theatre group, People’s Branch Theatre, for for a full year now and I could not be more proud of a production than the one currently running at The Belcourt. If you are anywhere near Nashville – come to the show!

Groupthink. Thought-crime. Big Belcourt is watching YOU!..eer, Big Brother that is…ok, not really, at least not here. But, you should come watch Big Brother as The People’s Branch Theatre presents George Orwell’s 1984 running through October 8th. More at The People’s Branch official site and advance tickets available at

By George Orwell.
Freely adapted for the stage by Matt Chiorini. Directed by Jeffrey Frace.
In partnership with the ACLU of Tennessee.
Groupthink. Thought-crime. Big Brother is watching! This classic, eerily prescient nightmare from George Orwell is one of the most scathing indictments of totalitarianism ever put to page. Writing about a future where language is becoming obsolete, people’s lives are dictated by what they see on television, and individual thought or expression is considered dangerous, Orwell’s fantasy proves more relevant that ever as we follow Winston Smith’s journey to discover that sometimes 2+2=5. Visit the PBT Production Blog for the behind-the-scenes action on the making of this one-of-a-kind event!
October 5th is Pay-What-You-Can Night. Then stick around for a talk-back with Bruce Barry from the ACLU of Tennessee immediately following the performance.

Hi Nancy VanReece,Your blog is wonderful, although 1984 in 2005 isn’t exactly what I was looking for: < HREF="" REL="nofollow">gardening gift<>, but I like the topic and how you wrote it. I am more interested in gardening gift, but during my search for more information I discovered 1984 in 2005, certainly one of the finest blogs I have seen lately!
