April is all about films in my world of art. The Nashville Film Festival is hands-down one of the most enjoyable places in Nashville to find thought provoking and entertaining visual art. This visual art just happens to be moving. Go to the Regal Green Hills April 17-24 and you will be visiting the world. Buy tickets in advance at http://www.nashvillefilmfestival.org/.
Not to miss in April are Victoria Boone’s work in the West Gallery at The Parthenon and the panel discussion on April 8 at Zeitgeist.

Through April 19: The Parthenon is pleased to present the paintings of Victoria Boone in the West Gallery. A Nashville artist, Boone has been working in the studio for thirty years. She holds a BFA in Painting and Sculpture and a MA in Museum Administration. Boone creates paintings filled with a fabricated, personal language of signs and symbols arranged within a grid or artificially constructed paradigm.
The origins of this body of work lie in Boone’s teenage diaries, in which she substituted pictograms for characters in order to remain in the closet to those around her. Boone has developed these symbols over the years and incorporates them into her current work.
Through April 26: THE EXHIBITIONS: Zeitgeist is pleased to present a series of group exhibitions, open forums and panel discussions titled, Dialogues. The first of these Dialogues is Painting. Participating artists include: Will Berry, Richard Feaster, Brady Haston, Farrar Hood, Rocky Horton, Sara La, Megan Lightell, Johnny Nelson, James Perrin, Kelly Popoff-Punches, Julian Rogers, Terry Rowlett, Lars Strandh, John Tallman, Gene Wilken and Lain York.
A panel discussion related to this installment is slated for Tuesday April 8, 6-8 p.m. in the gallery and is open to the public. Panelists will be Rocky Horton from David Lipscomb University and Terry Thacker and Kelly Williams from Watkins College of Art and Design.
