VIDEO: Al Gore Names Mountain Top Removal 2008 Reel Current Award Winner at Nashville Film Festival

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – April 11, 2008 — MOUNTAIN TOP REMOVAL, Michael O’Connell’s revealing look at mountaintop removal mining in West Virginia, has been named the 2008 winner of the Reel Current Award at the Nashville Film Festival. The winner is chosen and the award presented each year by Al Gore to a documentary at the Festival that provides extraordinary insight into a contemporary global issue.Gore will present the award to O’Connell on Friday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the V.I.P. area at the Festival, lower level of the Regal Green Hills Cinemas in the Green Hills section of Nashville. MOUNTAIN TOP REMOVAL screens on April 23 at 6:45 p.m.This is the fourth year that Gore has presented the Reel Current Award at the Festival. Last year’s winner was director Jennifer Baichwal’s Manufactured Landscapes.
